Retail sales in Turkey experienced a 13% increase in July 2025 compared to the same month the previous year, which was a deceleration from a revised 15% growth rate recorded in June. This represents the most modest growth since April as sales growth for various categories showed signs of moderation. Specifically, sales for food, beverages, and tobacco in specialized stores increased by 16%, down from 16.6% in June. Sales of information and communication equipment grew by 16.7%, a significant decrease from 25.1% in the preceding month. Cultural and recreational goods saw an 11.8% rise compared to 20.1% before, while other household equipment increased by 7.1% versus 9.4%. Additionally, sales of other goods rose by 17%, down from 26.2%, sales via stalls and markets increased by only 1.7% compared to 11%, and trade not conducted in stores, stalls, or markets grew by 6.1% against an earlier 7.3%. Conversely, there was a notable upsurge in automotive fuel sales in specialized stores, which rose by 8.9% compared to 4.4%, and sales in non-specialized stores increased by 13.6% from 8.4% previously. On a seasonally adjusted monthly basis, retail activity saw a decrease of 0.2% in July 2025, a reversal from the 1.3% increase observed the month before.
