In August 2025, Estonia's annual inflation rate climbed to 6.1%, a notable rise from 5.4% in July, marking its peak since July 2023. This increase was largely fueled by a significant surge in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, which jumped by 9.2%, the highest since September 2023, up from 9.1% in July. Additionally, price growth was observed across various sectors: alcohol and tobacco saw a rise to 6.2% from 4.9%; transport prices soared to 9.7% from 8.9%; communication costs increased to 3.1% from 1.9%; and the education sector recorded a rise to 2.7% from 2.5%. Health expenses escalated to 11.0% from 10.5%, household goods prices inched up to 2.9% from 2.8%, and the sector comprising hotels, cafes, and restaurants saw a slight increase to 5.5% from 5.4%. Furthermore, housing costs rebounded with a 1.5% increase, reversing a 1.8% decline the month before. Conversely, inflation showed signs of easing in areas like recreation and culture, falling to 8.2% from 9.0%, and miscellaneous goods and services, decreasing to 4.2% from 4.7%. On a monthly basis, consumer prices went up by 1.0% in August, accelerating from a 0.6% increase in July, marking the swiftest monthly rise in four months.
