In August 2025, Jordan experienced a deceleration in its annual inflation rate for the second consecutive month, reaching 1.32%, a decrease from July's 1.68%. This represents the lowest rate since November of the previous year. The primary factor for this decline was a decrease in the prices of food and non-alcoholic beverages, marking their first downturn in 10 months at -0.36% compared to July's 1.71%. Additional moderation was observed in the prices of various goods and services, which registered at 2.33%, down from 2.52%. Conversely, inflation stability was noted in sectors such as health (0.71%), clothing and footwear (1.57%), and education (1.84%). Housing costs saw a slight uptick in price growth, rising to 2.49% from 2.41%, as did communication (2.60% from 2.31%) and alcohol and tobacco, which sharply increased to 12.41% from 5.08%. Transportation prices remained stable, showing no change (0.00% compared to a previous -0.90%). Meanwhile, prices for recreation and culture continued to decrease, albeit at a slower rate (-1.00% compared to -1.58%). On a month-to-month comparison, consumer prices fell by 0.21% in August, marking the second consecutive monthly decrease following a 0.10% dip in July.
