In July 2025, Canada's wholesale sales experienced a 1.2% month-on-month increase, reaching C$86.0 billion. This marks the most significant rise since January, slightly under market projections of 1.3%, though an improvement from the upwardly revised 1.0% increase recorded in June. Four out of the seven subsectors showed growth, accounting for about 75% of the total wholesale trade. The motor vehicle and motor vehicle parts and accessories subsector led with a notable 5.1% increase, totaling C$15.4 billion, driven by a 5.9% rise in motor vehicle sales. Simultaneously, the building materials and supplies subsector saw a 2.7% increase, also totaling C$12.1 billion, with all industry groups in this sector contributing. Notably, there was a 2.7% rise in lumber, millwork, hardware, and other building supplies. However, these gains were partly offset by a 1.5% decline in the miscellaneous subsector, which dropped to C$10.7 billion. Regionally, wholesale sales increased in seven provinces, with Ontario seeing a 1.5% rise to C$44.7 billion and Alberta reporting a 2.6% growth to C$9.5 billion.
