In September, Taiwan experienced a trade surplus of USD 12.40 billion, an increase from USD 7.10 billion in the same month the previous year, yet below the projected surplus of USD 15.66 billion anticipated by market analysts. Export values surged by 33.8% year-over-year, reaching USD 54.25 billion. This rise was primarily propelled by significant growth in sectors such as information, communication, and audio-video products (up by 86.9%), along with electronic components (up by 25.6%). Notably, exports increased to major regions, including the United States (up by 51.6%), ASEAN countries (up by 34.0%), Europe (up by 27.3%), Japan (up by 23.3%), and China & Hong Kong (up by 12.8%). On the other hand, imports grew by 25.1% to USD 41.86 billion. This growth was fueled by a higher demand for electronic components (up by 42.7%), information and audio-video products (up by 70.0%), and machinery (up by 52.7%), despite a decrease in mineral product imports (down by 11.3%). Significant import growth was noted from Korea (up by 54.2%), Europe (up by 34.1%), ASEAN (up by 23.9%), China & Hong Kong (up by 20.9%), and the United States (up by 20.3%). Cumulatively, from January to September, Taiwan's trade surplus amounted to USD 99.27 billion, with exports increasing by 29.7% and imports climbing by 22.0%.
