Senegal’s annual inflation rate slowed to 0.3% in July 2026 from 0.4% in June, marking its lowest level since May 2025. The deceleration was largely driven by a steeper decline in food prices, which fell 0.4% after a 0.2% drop, and in housing and utilities, which decreased 0.8% following a 0.6% fall. Inflation also eased slightly for alcoholic beverages and tobacco (11.8% vs 12%) and for furnishings (0.7% vs 0.8%).

At the same time, inflation held steady at 0.8% for recreation, sports and culture, 1% for education, 2.2% for restaurants and hotels, and 0.6% for financial services. By contrast, deflation in transport moderated to 0.1% from 0.6%, while inflation picked up for health (1.8% vs 1.6%) and for clothing and footwear (1.2% vs 1.1%).

On a monthly basis, consumer prices rose 1% in July, the fastest pace since September 2025, after remaining unchanged in the previous month.
