2016.10.3022:06:00UTC+00Dollar Lower Amid FBI Probe on Clinton Emails

The dollar was on the backfoot as the FBI's investigation on Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton's use of a private email rattled the conviction of the market regarding her victory in the U.S. presidential election. The dollar's index against a basket of major currencies declined to 98.369.

The greenback slipped late last week following the revelation of the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation's probe that it has found new emails related to Clinton's use of a private server. The dollar index increased 3.0 percent so far. Against the yen, the dollar was down to 104.62 yen. The euro climbed nearly 0.9 percent at $1.0978. The Mexican peso fell 0.3 percent to 19.1005 against the dollar.

Money markets priced around a 70 percent likelihood of a raise in rates in December. The majority expect the Fed to maintain its policy on hold at this week's meeting.
