Montenegro's trade deficit expanded to EUR 364 million in July 2025, up from EUR 356.3 million in the same month of the previous year, setting a new record since data collection commenced in January 2007. Export activities saw an 8.5% increase, reaching EUR 45 million, while imports grew by 2.8% to EUR 409 million. Analyzing the period from January to July 2025, exports experienced a slight decline of 0.9% compared to last year, totaling EUR 327.3 million, primarily due to reduced sales in sectors like manufactured goods classified by material (-40.5%), machinery and transport equipment (-26.2%), beverages and tobacco (-15%), animal oils and fats (-10.9%), and miscellaneous manufactured articles (-5.8%). Conversely, imports increased by 6.5%, amounting to EUR 2,492.4 million. This rise was driven by heightened imports of beverages and tobacco (12.2%), food and live animals (9.6%), animal oils and fats (8.5%), chemicals (6.9%), and mineral fuels, lubricants, and related materials (0.9%).
