Belgium's annual inflation rate slightly decreased to 1.91% in August 2025, down from 1.92% in July, marking the lowest level since January 2024. This deceleration was attributed to a more modest rise in prices across most categories. Notably, food and non-alcoholic beverages saw a price increase of 2.63%, down from 3.10% in July; housing and utilities rose by 2.48%, compared to 2.77%; miscellaneous goods and services climbed 2.95%, down from 3.14%; and alcoholic beverages and tobacco increased by 2.74%, a significant reduction from the previous 5.32%. Meanwhile, the deflation in clothing and footwear deepened, with prices dropping by 3.13% compared to a 2.96% decrease in July. Conversely, transportation prices saw a rebound, increasing by 0.83% after a decline of 0.35% the month before. On a month-to-month basis, consumer prices decreased by 0.01% in August, reversing the previous month's rise of 0.49%.
