In July 2025, the UK's industrial production saw a decline of 0.9% compared to the previous month, contrary to market predictions of a stagnant performance. This decrease followed a 0.7% increase in June. The manufacturing sector experienced a 1.3% drop, reversing the previous month's 0.5% rise, with the most significant reductions observed in the production of computer, electronic and optical products, basic pharmaceutical goods, and chemical items. Additionally, the output in mining and quarrying decreased further, dropping by 2.0% from a previous decline of 0.4%. Meanwhile, the growth rate for electricity, gas, steam, and air-conditioning supply slowed to 2.0% from 3.3%. Conversely, the water supply, sewerage, and waste management sector saw its output increase at a higher rate of 0.8%, up from 0.5%. Annually, industrial production slightly decreased to 0.1% from 0.2% in June, falling short of the anticipated 1.1% increase.
